California's Democrats are Leading the State Towards Bankruptcy

I have been looking at some statistics recently relating to the cost of illegal immigrants in California to the US tax-payer, and what I saw was totally beyond the pale.

The story goes like this...

In the 1980's and early 1990's the Republican Party was the dominant political force in California, now, in 2020 it is irrelevant and "progressive" (socialist) Democrats are ruling the state.

The "bottom dropped out" for the Republicans in California after the end of the Cold War when there was an out-migration of aerospace workers that was followed by an in-migration, primarily from Latin America. This influx (mainly of Hispanics/Mexicans) sharply reconfigured the pre-existing cultural ambience and political orientation of California. What had been a conservative, pro-Republican state morphed into a liberal and ultimately a radically "progressive" Democrat voting region.

While no one knows the exact figure, it is estimated that 10 million illegal Hispanic aliens currently reside in California, whose Democrat politicians have made them a protected and privileged class. These illegal aliens from south of the US-Mexico border get free or subsidised in-state tuition, welfare benefits and health care. "Sanctuary City" laws protect them from being deported, even the most violent criminals among them. Moreover, the Democrat administration turns a blind eye to these illegals casting fraudulent votes at county, state and federal elections, effectively allowing them to serve as the Party's imported electoral college.

In 1994, Californians approved Proposition 187, a Bill aimed at prohibiting illegal aliens from accessing the majority of state-funded social services. The Bill was successfully passed by a whopping 17 percentage points which gives some indication of how concerned Californian citizen were by the issue. Illegal alien advocacy organisation, however, promptly sued, and in a shocking display of judicial activism Prop 187 was successfully overturned. California's Attorney General never appealed the decision and it stand to this day.

In the ensuing two decades, California has moved in a dramatically more "progressive" political direction and is currently bent on defying every federal restriction applicable to illegal aliens. Here are just a few of the atrocious measures I discovered that have been passed by California's Democrat-dominated legislature in a deliberate attempt to nullify the Immigration and Nationality Act...

(1) Effective January 2018, Senate Bill 54 effectively bars California law enforcement agencies from any meaningful cooperation with federal immigration officers. In particular, the law...

(a) Prohibits California officials from retaining a jailed immigration violator for transfer to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), unless the individual has been convicted of a serious felony or ICE possesses a criminal arrest warrant issued by a federal court.

(b) Prevents police and correctional officers from transferring an illegal alien into ICE custody unless the the alien is a sex offender or they have committed a serious crime
in the past 15 years.

(c) Bars California officials from sharing any information with the federal government about an alien that is not available to the general public.

(d) 2011: California passed the "Employment Acceleration Act" which banned state agencies and localities from requiring private employers to use the E-Verfiy system.

(e) 2011: California passed their own version of the "DREAM Act", which allows illegal aliens brought into California under the age of 16 to receive financial aid so long as
they meet certain educational requirements.

(f) 2019: In July of 2019 Democrat Governor of California, Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill-54 making California the first state in America to extend health care cover to illegal aliens/immigrant aged 19-25. The new law is predicted to cost $ 98 million in its first year. President Trump described the measure as "crazy". According to the Fedeation for American Immigration Reform's (FAIR) 2017 edition of the fiscal burden of illegal immigration on US tax-payers, Californians are on the hook for over $ 2 BILLION that is directly attributable to illegal immigration and its effects.

It's astonishing how things have changed in California under the Democrats. Prop 187, prophetically known as the "Save Our State Initiative" would have saved California hundreds of millions of dollars, had it not been scuttled by a nutty leftist judiciary. In stark contrast, the recent attempts to provide people who have no right to be in the United States with an extravagant package of tax-payer funded benefits promises to saddle numerous generations of Californians with TRILLIONS of dollars in debt.

The lunatic policies of California's Democrats are driving lawfully present immigrants and US citizens out of the state in search of fiscal sanity. In fact, so many people are fleeing California, U-Haul franchises are running out of trucks.

If clowns like Gavin Newsome are not stopped, California's irresponsible illegal alien policies will lead the state to bankruptcy. It simply cannot continue to fund a broad range of generous benefit packages while simultaneously increasing the state's population of those who pay the lowest taxes and consume the most service - illegal aliens.

I spend half of each year in England and half in Australia, so I can tell you about how Australia deals with foreign immigrants who have entered the country illegally. It's very simple. Being in Australia without legal permission is a criminal act. Australia does NOT allow "undocumented" foreign criminals to remain in the country. Full Stop. As soon as they are caught they are , for all intents and purposes, IMMEDIATELY deported back to wherever it was they came from. With the exception of those who have not yet been apprehended by our law enforcement/security agencies ( and I can assure you catching illegal aliens is one of their highest priorities), there are no such thing as "undocumented" immigrants in Australia. If you told the average Australian citizen that in the United States, foreign nationals who enter the country illegally can travel up to states like California and not only be protected from immediate deportation in sanctuary cities, but also given access to a generous range of tax-payer funded benefits including: welfare payments (e.g. unemployment benefits) , subsidised housing, food stamps, free education, free health care (not to mention driver's licences FFS !!) They would say THAT'S F**KING CRAZY. And they would be right.

It is apparent that California is headed in a bad direction. Too bad the PHONY media refuses to act like journalists these day and instead, act like PRAVDA for the DNC.

It has been for a long time now. Today, it is no longer effectively a State. It no longer recognizes the Constitution of the United States nor the constitution of the State of California.

I call it the SOTC now (The Socialist Oligarchy of the Territory of California).

As I do not live in the US, I do not have as detailed a knowledge of US law as you would have. But I do live in Australia for 6 months of each year and in England for the other 6 months and as we the US, Australia and the UK) are all members of the Anglosphere we share quite a lot in common : the English language, respect for the rule of law, legal principles derived from English Common Law and the 17th century English Bill of Rights, the Magna Carta, liberal democracy and so on and on.

What I do not understand about California and illegal immigration is that, surely, American Federal Law must state very clearly it is not legal to walk or fly or float onto American soil unless you have official permission to do so in the form of a legitimate Visa, for example, that confirms you have been cleared by the US immigration authorities for entry; or you have obtained a valid "Green Card" (I think that's what you call it) that entitles you to legally reside and work in the US. Right. But in California the Governor of the state makes no secret of the fact that there are literally millions of illegal aliens on his turf, he knows all about it and not just that, but he is actually openly ENCOURAGING more of these people to flood in by passing legislation that offers illegal aliens from Latin America, etc; a smorgasboard of generous welfare benefits (payed for by the tax-payer) and a promise of protection from deportation that is too good to refuse.

So, what I'm trying to say is that these foreign immigrants have NO RIGHT whatsoever to be in America. Is that correct? I mean, if you said to Donald Trump, "Mr President there are 10 million illegal Hispanics living in California, did you know that?" Trump would say, "Yeah something like that." Then if I said to him, "Is this legal, Sir?" He would say, "No, it's not." I would then say, "With respect Sir, why is the Governor or California boasting about this and passing dozens of laws that restrict your ability to deport these people back to where they came from?"

So you have a situation where the Governor of California is on the phone to the President of the US saying "Yeah, that's right Don, I got millions of illegal aliens residing here in the Golden State, hanging out in Sanctuary Cities and get every welfare benefit you can imagine, what's the problem ?" (Trump) "The problem is that they are not supposed to be in the US and I want them out fast !" (Governor) Well I'm very sorry but there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, so either get used to to the idea or F**K OFF."

Is that seriously how things work in the US now? I always thought the President of the US was the "Big Kahoona" and that what the "Big Kahoona" said he wanted done (provided it was lawful and reasonable) got done quick smart - OR ELSE !

As I just noted on another post, it is always interesting how the conservatives feel the need to point out a particular city or State they think is shitty when we have plenty of Red States that finish just about at the bottom of every meaningful social and economic indicator

You don't like California, don't go there and stop crying

How many liberals love to focus on the South and ignore issues in blue states? Simple partisan politics.

And California is our biggest state. "As California goes so goes the nation" as the old saying says so yes we are going to receive more attention for better and worse.
