This was bound to happen, guess it was only a matter of time.
Campaign workers for supervisor candidate are jailed in shooting
Alleged gang members who worked for Hoa Van Tran were arrested in Orange following campaign fundraiser.
Two campaign workers for Democratic supervisorial candidate Hoa Van Tran are in Orange County Jail in connection with a shooting that occurred just hours after a Tran fundraiser in April.
Tran campaign staffers Jorge Valle,18, and Cesar "Youngster" Valle,19, both reputed members of the Krazy Proud Criminal gang, were arrested April 9 on charges of attempted murder and accessory after the fact, respectively. Jorge Valle is being held without bail, while Cesar Valle is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Police did not say if the two men are related.
Both men were among several reputed gang-members working since mid-March at Tran’s campaign headquarters in Little Saigon, purportedly staffing phone lines and distributing house signs, said former staffer Misha Houser. But what they really did was create a climate of fear, Houser said.
"They were basically there for the free food and to enforce (campaign manager Edgardo Reynoso’s) edicts," she said. "It was very Mafioso."
Reynoso, speaking on behalf of Tran, responded that the candidate opposes gangs and would not tolerate any members on his campaign. However, he would not comment on the arrest of the two staffers.
After a disagreement with Reynoso over campaign literature, Houser said she was intimidated by a male staffer nicknamed "Dopey," who told her that he was "packing a ’22."
