America has a very good mix of resources but it would take 50 years to get back what we pissed away, and it can barely begin to happen now because the people are weak and generally stupid, supremely ill fitted for doing hard things.

The bigger picture with what is happening right now is a shift from global to local production. Some credit Trump, others blame him, but China is at the root of the realignment. Bill Clinton’s grand plan—bringing China into the WTO to unlock a golden age of global manufacturing—failed for one simple reason: China never met the requirements for Ricardian free trade. Now, Trump is accelerating the shift with his tariff regime, forcing countries to onshore production into the U.S.It will be painful in the short term, but in the long run, the U.S. remains an attractive hub for investment—highly innovative, efficient, and increasingly deregulated under Trump. Meanwhile, Europe, already lagging, will sink further into economic stagnation. This just speeds up the inevitable.

There will be the BRICS and there will be the left behinds, for instance America.....and Europe if they dont get their shit together.
 
I doubt that just four years will be enough to make serious inroads into how badly the US has been fucked up by the Left. And, yes, it is the Left and Democrats as evidenced by how fucked up blue states are when it comes to business or how the Left has taken good ideas like worker safety and environmentalism and totally fucked them away with zero-tolerance extremism.
