Cancer Question

I know people on this board have had cancer and I'm sure many of us know people who have had it. My mother-in-law went in to get her kidney removed maybe a month ago because there was a lump on it and during the process they found out she had stage 4 bladder cancer and now it's spread to her abdomen and spine. A couple of people have told me it will basically take a miracle for her to survive and she doesn't have long. Crazy how fast it all came on.

My question is have any of you either had/or know anyone who has had cancer with a dire prognosis and survived? (I know all cancer can kill but I was thinking more along this advanced stage.) Guess I'm just looking for anything hopeful to hang my hat on. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Discussing all options with the specialists giving treatment and getting in touch with support networks may be of some help.
I wish you all the best.
Good luck!

Sounds like it's metastasized, which is only beneficial because she shouldn't bother enduring the typical chemo treatments that will devastate her already compromised system.

It didn't mecessarily come on quickly. It's been brewing, but she didn't realize it.

Sad news....I wish you and your family the best.

I am so sorry Cawacko. My friend did not survive, but sought treatment at one of the Canxer Center and they gave him five years the other doctors didnt! My girlfriend highly recommends them for people with late stage cancers.

My step-father has survived four different cancers and melanoma twice. He was given 3 months to live about five years ago... He's survived Prostate Cancer, lung cancer (mesothelioma), as I said skin cancer, he had cancer in his nasal passage and one time in his throat... (and no, the man never smoked in his life).

His lung cancer was supposed to take him, but he simply went in one day and it was gone. My mother believes it is a miracle.

My sympathy Cawacko.
sounds like her best option may just be to make her reaining life as comfortable as possible.

I was give less than a year to go several years ago.
I declined chemo and such and am still here. Not a fun road but still have some good days.

Happy you made it :)

Thanks everyone for their thoughts and feedback, I appreciate it. uscitizen glad you are still with us. I guess at this point all one can do is hope, pray and stay positive.

I got married last August. When looking at dates we were choosing between August and February. I don't want to think what it would be like if we choose February.

August is better anyway, you get to create your own holiday in a month without one.
