The USS Liberty was accidentally attacked by IDF forces on June 8, 1967, during what is known as the Six-Day War.
Israel apologized for the attack, stating that the USS Liberty had been attacked in error after being mistaken for an Egyptian ship. Both the Israeli and U.S. governments conducted inquiries and issued reports concluding that the attack was a mistake due to Israeli confusion about the ship's identity.
Just as earlier this year we mistakenly identified three of our own hostages as Hamas terrorists and killed them during the most tense time of the operation in northern Gaza, this was not because we hate our own hostages. Similarly, the misidentification leading to the attack on the American vessel was not an indication that Israel harbors hatred towards America.
The fact that Candace Owens chose to revive this nearly 60-year-old conspiracy theory only shows how desperate she is in trying to cause Americans to depart from their staunch support of Israel.
