Capitalism Has No Answer For A Pandemic. Government To The Rescue.

There is no way for the free market to deal with something like a pandemic. It is an inappropriate system for that.

You can't let supply/demand set the price of a commodity during a crisis. That prioritizes the rich.

Actually, capitalism has made things worse in some ways.

What a spectacle of inefficiency seeing all the States, Cities and Hospitals in market competition for PPE.

And the shameless profiteering of sellers holding out for the highest bidder.

And the way this virus has hit the poor harder than the rich.

Capitalism has protected and pampered the rich and powerful as the disadvantaged and impoverished suffer.

Perhaps the US Constitution should be amended to reflect reality.

"We, the Rich and Powerful..."

The big take-away from this disaster is how the one thing that is there for We, The People, is GOVERNMENT.

We need to cherish our Government, protect our Government, protect our Constitution, the document which forms out Government.

Government is fantastically there for us when capitalism spectacularly lets us down.

All of you government-bashers need to rethink your values.

Capitalism has it's place, has it's value, can contribute to a healthy economy, of course.

But we also have to have a strong government to regulate capitalism and to supply the functions that capitalism is no good at.

this is such rationed persception of life thinking with no scope of real timing with living simultaneously occupying space as a spontaneous reproduction to an ever changing population. You thrive creating chaos in a naturally balancing time occupying space now, don't you?

If you want government to be cherished you first need to reform government...because right now it is of crap quality generally and abusive in particular.

If we left it strictly up to capitalism then the price of everything needed to deal with coronavirus would skyrocket under the increased demand.

Then it would quickly devolve into: Only the rich survive.

The only question then would be who would be left to serve the rich?

Wait til the reds take over the post office. Ben Franklin started it as a service. It takes no taxpayer money and is non-profit. If anyone is stupid enough to think privatizing it will make it better and cheaper, they need help. That is not why the wealthy want it.

Hello Nordberg,

Wait til the reds take over the post office. Ben Franklin started it as a service. It takes no taxpayer money and is non-profit. If anyone is stupid enough to think privatizing it will make it better and cheaper, they need help. That is not why the wealthy want it.
