There are about 42,000 car deaths every year, so if even one death is too many, we should outlaw cars.

Air travel is one of the safest forms of travel. Losing the ability to fly helicopters at night would lose the ability to provide life saving medical care in remote locations at night. It is all essential to our national security.

I could go on, but to me it is clear that we should try to make air travel safer, but not give up on it all together.
