Got a great email on the Cash for Clunkers deal.

A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of
gas a year.

A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons
a year.

So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce US gasoline
consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles so that's 224 million gallons saved per year.

That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption.

More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel costs about
$350 million dollars

So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to save $350
million.

We spent $8.57 to for every dollar saved.

How good a deal was that ???

They'll probably do a great job with health care though!!

350 million per a year. Of course we weren't expecting to earn it all back in a single fucking year, retards. And it had other desirable effects than just the direct money saved through reduced oil consumption.

My God, whoever wrote this fails at statistics so hard. The amount of money saved from a program /= the amount of money saved over a single year considering one specific aspect desirable aspect of the program and only the monetary dimensions of that aspect.

Its humor. No one thinks we did the entire deal to save oil. After all, we conquered Iraq to save on oil.

Its humor.

So you say something that parades around a single political opinion and is completely wrong in it's assumptions, and then you say it's "humor", and I'm just supposed to let it stand? Partisan humor is partisan humor, and the "humor" part does not shield it from criticism.

Oh jeez. Ok, so critique it to your hearts content.

And post your critique on www.justafuckinjoke.com
