The news was announced by the New York attorney general, who said the directors had undertaken to dissolve the foundation under judicial supervision. Its funds will be split between other charities.
The attorney general’s statement said: “Our petition detailed a shocking pattern of illegality, including unlawful coordination with political campaigns, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more. This amounted to the foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve the directors’ business and political interests.”
A small part of the charitable work involved commissioning a giant portrait of the principal director to be displayed in a prominent place.
The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said: “We filed complaints calling for investigations into the foundation for improper political activity, lying on its tax returns, and self-dealing to benefit the directors. It is good to see this fraud is finally over.”
All this is true. But it wasn’t the Clinton Foundation, it was the Trump Foundation that was dissolved two years ago. Was this part of the Deep State conspiracy? Was the DNC behind it? Trump’s followers have never said.
