Chavez seized control of two of Venezuela's largest coffee processing plants

Those that defend righteousness and compassion in an evil, selfish, cruel conservative dominated world?

Good lesson for the children.
How about, you investigate, find out which PERSON or PEOPLE at the company authorized the breaking of the law, prosecute them and if they are found guilty they go to prison. Then the share holders and the board of directors finds people to replace the guilty party and the company goes on doing business as a private entity? Is regulated market economics really that far beyond the understanding of the left?

Actually Soc, Liberals broadly understand regulated capitalism quite well.

It was Liberals and progressives who invented and instituted regulated capitalism, beginning with TR, and reaching its climax with FDR and LBJ. It was the right wing that fought tooth and nail against all of the Square Deal, New Deal, and Great Society regulatory reforms and public oversight of banking, finance, and labor rights.

Further, we can’t transfer the experiences of our country onto other countries. Our experiences are unique to us. They do not serve as a surrogate or an anology for the experience of other countries. Latin America has an appalling history with corporations and the unbridled exercise of the power of wealth and concentrated capital. Big business and Corporations have done very little for the people of south america, and in many cases either impeded their progress, or flat out subjugated them.

I’m no expert on Venezuela. But, the fact is, the people of Venezuela have overwhelming elected Chavez in what, three elections and one referendum? I don’t think any leader of Venezuela has ever wielded such sustained and broad popular support. If they want to confiscate a corrupt and law-breaking coffee company, that’s their business as far as I’m concerned.

As for the history of corporations in Latin America, I think General Smedley Butler said it best:

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested.

Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents." – GENERAL SMEDLEY BUTLER
