WASHINGTON — Pay for federal judges is so inadequate that it threatens to undermine the judiciary's independence, Chief Justice John Roberts says in a year-end report critical of Congress.

What is he whining about ? He took the job, and is now whining about the pay ?

LOL US you are a tool! How do you get min wage out of that article? Do you think Judges should rule that people have a RIGHT to a certain rate of pay?

And Supreme court judges must maintain higher pay than federal judges, soooo.

I remember when congress agruged for a raise to keep corruption our of congress, well they got more money and more corruption as well....

I can see the point that these dudes could be making ten times more in private practice, and there's a risk that well-qualified lawyers and judges won't want to serve in the federal judiciary.

US has a good point, but the way he addresses it is so lame and typical of a liberal argument. Nothing to do with facts just misdirection and distraction.

I want to see their performance appraisals before they get a raise.
Why should they live in a union type of world when the rest of America is going to an individual performance based compensation concept ?

I think if you look a bit closer Roberts did include a performance appraisial. But that is completely different than a min wage. Or are you suggesting that before any min wage hike there be a performance evaluation on the individuals involved?

I would like to see govt ran more like businesses in that they are not in a union mentality and must perform to get more money.
In retrospect I guess I should not have mentioned the minimum wage, and just concentrated on Roberts whining like a "welfare queen" :) MO money, mo money.
