WASHINGTON (AP) — China has agreed to purchase 25 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans annually as part of an agreement reached by its leaders, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday.

Bessent said China will start by purchasing 12 million metric tons of soybeans from the U.S. between now and January.

“So you know, our great soybean farmers, who the Chinese used as political pawns, that’s off the table, and they should prosper in the years to come,” Bessent said in an interview on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.” He said the agreement lasts for three years.

Brazil and Argentina have already backfilled the void left by Trump’s policies. Once one loses a customer, it’s difficult to get them back, especially when the supplier is not seen as a reliable source.

The 25 million metric tons just brings us back to the level we were before. Nothing to shout about.

America total soy production is around 110M Tonnes a year.

In this deal, China will be buying around 20% of what we produce. It really is a huge deal.

There is also now the custom of people telling Trump what he wants to hear while not being willing/able to follow through.

Besides Trump is likely to be gone soon...lying to Trump....who lies constantly....is low cost.
