The offer Japan made was more than fair, and would provide more jobs. the other major bidder is in poor financial and can do nothing like what Nippon Steel can do, plus it keeps the mills onshore. Japan is an ally, not an enemy, like Biden's Red Chinese employers. You clearly know nothing about the deal and what Nippon brings to the table.

The Japanese company promised $2.7 billion in fresh capital to modernize U.S. Steel’s aging plants and honor collective-bargaining agreements. It offered workers $5,000 bonuses, made job guarantees, and agreed to let Cfius block reductions in production capacity at U.S. Steel plants, among other political sweeteners.

Now go compare Nippon Steel's condition to Cleveland-Cliff's; the latter is much weaker financially, and will have a total monopoly without Nippon's domestic competition. Japan is not a 'foreign adversary', and besides, Biden has approved all kinds of sales to Red Chinese agents of American corporations, farm lands, and real estates, etc., so we know why he opposes this one.

And, it was the American board of U.S. Steel who wanted the Nippon offer.
