Trump on Monday announced he would increase tariffs on Chinese products by an additional 10 percentage points from Tuesday, bringing the total tax on some Chinese products to 45 percent. He said he did not expect Beijing to “retaliate too much” but analysts said the moves heralded a significant escalation that will raise costs for businesses and consumers in both countries.

China exports a LOT of things to the US that Americans use every day or things that are used to produce " American made goods " that these tariffs are going to drive the cost up.
As I said this trade war isn't going to end up good for the AMERICAN consumer.

Well a lot of the worlds economists have come out and said his tariffs could lead us into a DEEP recession / depression .
And I can see it happening. heck I think he wants to drive Ford out of business.
