I cooked Turducken and Crawfish Etoufee, dirty rice with broccoli flourettes, sausage dressing, caulimash (for me, I'm allergic to 'taters) with bacon bits, mashed taters with a smidge of sour cream and bacon bits, green beans with sauteed ham and onion...

And for dessert I ended with Bananas Foster. The kids loved the flambe! Wooot!

What'd y'all have?

Traditional stuff, Turkey, Dressing, Ham, taters, yams, home made biscuits.

I had the best eatins in several years this Christmas. Divorce has been good for me ;)

I cooked a five pound beef tenderloin - on the rare side of medium rare - with horseradish sauce, roasted butternut squash, steamed green beans and fingerling potatoes with parsley.... some nice Petit Syrah... and finished with home made apple pie with walnuts and vanilla ice cream and coffee.

Nothing personal other than tastes intended, But Beefy and Damo, I sure am glad I did not eat at your homes....

Maines sounded pretty tasty though.

You have no idea. Even my mother, who tends to dislike my dishes as too spicy, loved this meal. The Turducken particularly is delicious. The turkey soaks in the grease from the duck making both better than before. Duck is always greasy, not in a Turducken... Turkey is usually dry, not in a turducken... Mom didn't eat the Etouffee as it was too spicy for her, but she loved the dirty rice and broccoli flourettes... The stuffing was excellent... Man. I was Hitting it that night! Whoooooo.... It were very good!

Hey Damo, who stuffed the Truducken? Did you do it?

I ended up making a roast porklion with a dried apricot & cranberry compote, with mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert tirimasu and a yule log.

i will never eat a turkey again, after moving here.....

they are wild, really big, and everywhere, we contantly have to stop on the road to my house several times to let the different flocks of them cross the road!!! they are now considered part of my new ''animal'' friends!

and i thought i would be seeing bull winkle, moose, but no such luck! not yet! but we have come face to face with three different, big ass, deer!

Turkeys all over here as well. But still tasty to me Care ;)
I guess it is a country boy vs city girl kind of thing.

Watch out for Bullwinkle, the real ones can be very aggressive and mean.

I did. However, I had the butcher debone the birds. So it wasn't all that hard. Just put in the stuffing and stuff in the bird...

:D

We had a picnic ham, with pineapple and brown sugar glaze, and candied yams and corn on the cob....I was too tired to cook the usual and I still haven't gone to the grocery store to restock my fridge in this home....

Uscit, I know that free range turkeys are mighty tasty....we had one at a friends house in Massachusetts once....

I guess they are a dime a dozen up here and people just shoot their own...who knows?

okayyyyyyyyyy, if I buy a free range turkey from a butcher that has done all the work, and Matthew picked it up, I could continue to eat turkey! :)
