So he's not really a "witness" to the shooting; but instead was a lookiy-loo, after the Police showed up. :palm:

he saw the shooting? so who was on top? i heard various 911 callers saying a person wearing white was on top...that would be martin as i understand it. it is getting frustrating trying to keep all these stories straight with so many different threads.

he said that he saw someone stand up and walk towards him

(CBS News) SANFORD, Florida - The defense of George Zimmerman rests on a violent fight that he said occurred before he fired the shot that killed Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman is neighborhood watch volunteer at the center of the case. It was almost five weeks that Martin, the unarmed 17-year-old, was killed after Zimmerman found him suspicious. We don't know what happened immediately immediately before the shot was fired. CBS News correspondent Mark Strassman has new evidence in the case.
Trayvon Martin was buried in Miami with a gunshot wound to his chest. But otherwise, according to Richard Kurtz, the funeral director who prepared Martin for burial, his body showed no injuries.
"We could see no physical signs like there had been a scuffle [or] there had been a fight," he said. "The hands -- I didn't see any knuckles, bruises or what have you. And that is something we would have covered up if it would have been there."

as stated on another thread... the no bruising of knuckles etc... doesn't mean he wasn't in a fight. You punch someone in the nose and you are not likely to bruise knuckles. If you are the one on top and smashing a guys head into the ground, that too will leave no bruising etc...

as for the last sentence, I will assume that is just a slip of the tongue...

Well, this wasn't fight club. If two people are in a brawl, rolling around on the ground, I'd expect both to show signs of the scuffle. Especially since Zimmerman outweighed Martin by at least 50 lbs. and had a gun to boot.

As for the last sentence, it means that morticians use cosmetics to cover bruises and marks after embalming, not that he was "covering up" evidence.

Punching someone in the nose, is not necessarily going to bruise a knuckle.
When someone is punched in the nose, their eyes tear up, they lose focus, and it's momentarily difficult to defend yourself.
Pounding someone's head on the ground, is not going to leave bruises on the other person's hands, unless they hit their hands on the ground.
There was no evidence or statement that said they were "rolling around on the ground", so this is just conjecture on your part.

I've seen plenty of fights, where someone who weighed less, totally outmatched the other person.
Are you of the presumption that carrying a gun, automatically gives you better defensive skills?

Yeah; just like NBC "aired" the 911 call.
IF this is accurate I hate this. No matter who does it I hate when video (or phone) footage is dishonestly edited to elicit a response. And the media loves nothing more than good controversy and has no problem playing white vs. black vs. hispanic in an issue like this. F*ck them.

Critics say the "Today" show attempted to incite racial anger when it cut crucial seconds from audio of a phone call placed by George Zimmerman just before he killed the teenager.

NBC News is being excoriated in some circles – with competitor Fox News Channel leading the charge – for selectively editing audio of the 911 call placed by George Zimmerman just before he killed Trayvon Martin.

The NBC segment in question featured anchor Ron Allen and ran on the Today show on Tuesday. On Thursday, Sean Hannity and guest Brent Bozell played the NBC version of the 911 call and compared it with the unedited version.

In the NBC segment, Zimmerman says: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

The full version, though, unfolds like this:

Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”

911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?”

Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

After playing both versions, Hannity said: “They forgot the dispatcher’s question! How could NBC, in good conscience, do that?”

“This isn’t bias, this isn’t distortion, this is an all-out falsehood by NBC News,” answers Bozell, who runs a conservative watchdog group called the Media Research Center.

“When you hear him say, ‘he looks black,’ anyone watching that believes that there are racial overtones to what this man did,” Bozell says. “How could you not believe that? It goes with the narrative of the profiling. The only problem is, they edited out the dispatcher asking him, ‘what does he look like?’”

NBC News declined to comment.

Zimmerman, a volunteer community-watch participant shot and killed Martin on Feb. 26 in Florida, and some Democratic lawmakers and civil rights activists have called it a hate crime, accusing Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, of racially profiling Martin, who was a 17-year-old African American male.

“This is NBC News, Brent, and this is what they did at a time when emotions are running very high in this country,” Hannity said during his Thursday night TV show.

“Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer, I wonder if they’re proud tonight?” Hannity asked.
