Coastal rebuilding

MAGA MAN

Let's go Brandon!
I don't live on the coast for several reasons, one of which is the likelihood of getting personal and real property wiped out by ocean storms. And frankly, I'm rather tired of having my tax dollars used to rebuild overpriced ocean-front property that I choose not to own, again and again.

At the least, I think if FedCo writes checks for destroyed property, then it should own the property and let it revert back to nature, and become a buffer for properties that are better sited.

or maybe an even better solution would be to reduce and/or limit the taxation that the feds do to the people and let the states handle their own emergency funds for natural disasters. Then, maybe, the states could impose more rigid and strict legislation on the insurance companies that deny coverage to these property owners via some idiot clause

I think that's a good idea too, but politically would never happen. Interior states will rightly benefit, but the heavily populated coasts will prevail at the voting booth.

With my idea, we use the Left's biggest weapon against them: sustainability, environmental impact, etc.

So now it is the left that owns all those properties you are complaining about? If I'm not mistaken, the President himself owns one, in addition to a couple of radio demogogues who often remind us where they live

Actually I partially agree with you, if you take the risk you should live with the consequences, flood insurance is a good example, everyone else paying to keep insurance rates low

you're also giving them one HUGE thing that they do want....more federally owned property that they got to take away from Americans, imo.

Where did I say that the Left owns all the coastal properties? Here in NC, they are predominantly "red" counties.

Federal flood insurance is bankrupt- has been for a long time.

So? If they buy it, it's there's. Not at all a valid comparison for FedCo ownership of western lands.

Excellent suggestion.

Let the funds that liberals have mentally earmarked for reparations be used to purchase all coastline property in the continental US, and ask Trump to declare those lands a National Park in perpetuity.

Makes sense from a number of vantage points.

Have you read "Waves & Beaches" by Willard Bascom, the renowned engineer? An expert exposition of the dynamics and description of ocean/beach interaction and the folly of the building/rebuilding cycle. He proposed a moratorium on coastline structures back in 1979.

I could have written that book.

That makes sense. Your writing is spare, well-reasoned and effective.

Wait, did you just tell me that rage troll is a graduate engineer? :eek2:

Rune? He's claimed to be an engineer, however lacks the education and license. Sort of like Ralph Kramden calling himself a "sanitation engineer" when he's actually a janitor.

You have got to be kidding me.

That strains the limits of credibility.

What does rage troll supposedly "engineer"? Thomas the Tank Engine?

Right....because towns don't need the revenue from highly valued oceanfront dwellings. You really thought that out.
