Flash, if you're checking in how familiar are you with the common application? It's been a long time since I applied to college and I don't have any kids applying now so I'm out of the loop. This isn't unique to USC but people were marveling at our 11% acceptance rate for this upcoming year. Someone pointed out though that with the common application its much easier to apply to more schools so in a certain sense that number becomes distorted. (Yield is the number looked at most closely right?)
Do you hear people debating the pros and cons of the common application? On the surface it seems only having to fill it out once, instead of a new one for each school, is beneficial. But if it means people apply to a much larger number of schools because it's easier there could be issues with that as well.
