Common sense or extreme ideology?

Shaken, not stirred!
Here's an extreme, over simplified view on two burning issues of our time ... guns and books. What's your take on this?

NOT A SINGLE KID HAS DIED IN MASS READING, YET THEY ARE BANNING BOOKS INSTEAD OF GUNS

This is nothing but a Vacuous truth fallacy. That is, it starts with an assertion that that cannot be satisfied (how many "mass readings" occur?), then makes an unrelated assertion as if the two were an equality. It's a typical idiotic sloganeering of the Left. It's the equivalent of the equally vacuous A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.

First off, we already have one poster who misuses the word "fallacy" as if it makes his posts more profound. It never did, so don't repeat his mistake.

vacuous - having or showing a lack of thought or intelligence; mindless.
truth - that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.
fallacy - faulty reasoning; misleading or unsound argument.

Essentially, you are combining a double negative to a word that stands outside those definitions

Outside of this: mass readings occur in kindergartens' and grade schools everyday. Unless you were home schooled, you must remember everyone having the same book as the the teacher instructed kids to read aloud different passages.

As I said, an extreme and over simplified take on the situation, but it gets the message across...books pose no danger as guns do, yet they are treated as such, while the reverse by the gunner advocates/lobby is done with guns.

Now to be fair, you have books that do allude to or indirectly instruct for harm to be done to others (Mein Kampf, the Turner Diaries), but it's an in depth evaluation to establish cause and effect for criminal acts in society.

And the band played on.

Gardner claims to have an MA in history. But he does not have the knowledge of a freshman rhetoric class.
