Communist? Other than a few perhaps in southern Florida the label Communist is so 20th Century.

At best, there is probably only one country in the world who one could label Communist, and you’d have to be playing your audience as being really uneducated and stupid to try selling them a boogie man from the past, then again, it is the MAGA militia
 
Communist has developed a slightly different meaning in the US

It is not meant to be a literal translation of the term

It refers to someone who likes to give control of everything over to the government

We use it almost as a slang word but we do this with other words also

Liberal would also be a very good example as well as using the term fascist

None of them are used in the correct way

In other words it is an appeal to the uneducated, those that couldn’t define the word in its real meaning nor even as it might possibly apply today, the perfect scapegoat

Certainly was a big player in the last century, and blanketly I would agree with the Republican part, but the GOP certainly pimped the word fifty years ago and seemingly are attempting to do it again today

Would not agree with the Republican part, there have been a lot of distinguished Republicans, especially on the State and local level

Words often change their meanings in different cultures and it’s been this way since language was invented

Actually he is correct...sorta.

That is the problem with descriptors...they do a piss poor job of actually describing anything.

Descriptors should never be considered anything but a self-applied designation...that means whatever the person choosing to use the descriptor means it to mean.

When used as a slur against someone who is not self-applying the term...it mostly is just an insult by someone who is not especially clever.

But apparently sells on the right otherwise it wouldn’t be applied so frequently and never by a Presidential candidate, what does that say about the audience they are tying to reach?

Regardless, it was a big player in the last Century, and probably rightfully so, but today the term is antiquated and has no meaning, Trump and those frequently employing it would be more honest just calling Democrats assholes, but hen they’d piss off the Christian bloc
