Competition

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
What do you think drives people to be competative?
Is it the thrill of the competition?
Is it ego?
Is it greed?
Is it self-esteem?
Is it a need to raise their self-esteem?

There are plenty more, so feel free to voice your opinion.

I've been thinking about this, due to the WW games and now the 1,000,000 post coming up.

Your question is based on a false premis. Rather competition is just a natural fact of life. We compete constantly for food and living space and mates and economic resources. Etc. So the answer to your question is that we are hard wired to compete.

The selfish need of your genes to use you as a vehicle for their own self-promotion. Fuck your genes! I refuse to be enslaved to them!

I have always wanted to ask you, isn't it dangerous to hold socialist views in Mississippi? I can't see the good ol' boys taking too kindly to such heresies!

Good answer.

Why do you think that this "hard wired" situation isn't the same in everyone?
Just curious.

I disagree that we are hardwired to compete. We are certainly hardwired to survive, and survival ultimately meany competition in the past, but not any more. I believe that the drive to compete comes from an egoic standard, though not one that Freud would agree with. Survival in this country is not something that one needs to fight for, its essentially a given. Even the most destitute here will live. But there are different degrees to which people feel satisfied, and thats what drives competition. Simple.

what?

the most destitute here are definitely fighting and competing to survive. the drive to compete is inherent. only in a perfect world, is there no competition. for example, let us take the story of god and satan....it was a supposed perfect world, yet lucifer wanted to compete with god, and as that story unfolds, our imperfect world is created. the perfection comes from letting lucifer compete and lose. then, there is perfection.

Well, Freud didn't get a lot of things right.
