Conservatives have attacked Biden for sticking by his promise to name a Black woman

President Reagan did virtually the same thing Biden is now doing.

conservatives are upset. Legal commentators and pundits are aghast that President Joe Biden would stand by his commitment to naming a Black woman to the Supreme Court.

A few also point out that Biden made his promise in the heat of the presidential campaign. Based on multiple reports, it's likely Biden's hastily made vow during a Democratic primary debate wrapped up the endorsement that helped springboard him to the White House.

There's just one problem. If Biden is being "woke," misguided, or corrupting the supposedly pure process of selecting Supreme Court nominees, then he's not alone. President Ronald Reagan went by the same playbook.

"I am announcing today that one of the first Supreme Court vacancies in my administration will be filled by the most qualified woman I can possibly find, one who meets the high standards I will demand for all court appointments," Reagan told reporters midway through a speech that began with him declaring that it was untrue that he was "somehow opposed to full and equal opportunities for women in America."

Over 2 centuries and no black woman has been on the Supremes. It was a missing demographic. She can present views that the elites the Repubs chose have never heard. It makes the court more representative of America.
 
Lots of people to qualify as a SC Judge. It's good to have a 'visual' diversity just so people are confident the Law is being applied equally.

Yeah. A 'black women' that was enslaved might not represent the 1822 Male Property Owners, good point.

Yet liberals want Clarence Thomas off the court. You say you want a court that looks like America but for years have wanted the only black member gone.

Do you know why? Thomas has spoken at several of his wife's Trumpian-type rallies. The Dems are not upset by his color but by his values and complicity. He does not recuse himself from many cases he has a personal interest in. His wife's messes are coming to the court.
I suspect you know why the left is upset by Thomas, and you know it is not because of his color.
