On abortion, former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., said the next president should appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion.

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, an obstetrician, agreed that abortion shouldn't be a federal issue.

Romney said that if there was such widespread public agreement that Congress could pass a national abortion ban, "I would be delighted to sign that bill," but that no national consensus exists. Confronted with a Thompson TV commercial in which Romney spoke of keeping abortion legal years ago, Romney said simply, "I was wrong" and that he has changed.

Yep, you let neo-prohibitionists impose a 21 year old drinking restriction by tying it to completely and totally unrelated funding, and now state governments are irrelevant. If you don't take up fascist positions on social issues you get no funding. Conservatives want to take us back a century - a nationwide ban. This nation is backwash hickville.


Funny how conservatives loves states rights so much whenever it allows them to lynch blacks, but not whenever it means women get control over their own body.

You calling something like abortion or (dear God!) the drinking limit being at 21 "fascist" is a disgusting insult against the men, women, and children that have suffered and died at the hands of true fascism. You live in the United States of America--- you have the entire world at your finger tips, yet you express so much ingratitude towards this country and disrespect of those in other countries whom have really seen hardship.

This rant really has nothing to do with the thread-- Romney is an idiot...but I had to comment on the level of ignorance displayed in your OP.

Unlike you, I can back up my insults. I provided why you are as horrible as you are--- so what exactly have I done to make the founders ashamed of me, or to make myself ignorant?

What policies of mine sent America downhill?

Could it be the legalised abortion?

My support of stem-cell research?

My support of the separation of church and state?

Perhaps my support of gay marriage?

My opposition to the FCC and censorship of any kind?

My opposition to gun control?

My opposition to the prohibition of marijuana (or most drugs, for that matter)?

So what part of me makes me a fascist?
 
The reference to the drinking restriction - that's the basis for how they institute a mandatory social policy for the entire nation nowadays. Tack on to a completely unrelated spending bill that if a state doesn't comply with some unrelated social restriction, they lose all of their funding. That's how the conservatives would operate.

Besides, nowhere did I say that all other places on Earth are in poverty-- all I stated is that America has many advantages...perhaps you don't realise it, living in that hellhole Mississippi, but denying that America is at least one of the best countries is just stupid.

You do have some lovely places to live. I was particularly taken with Bend, OR. some years ago. Northern California is absolutely stunning, why the hell eveyone bangs on about SoCal is beyond me, yeah, good fun but I wouldn't want to live there.

I did like Warshington State but .... Redneck North East .....ah but Mystic Seaport, Conn. - if they let me live on a boat in dry-dock I'd be in it.

Yep, you have some really nice places indeed.

But the US is a fine place for the wealthy I think. As a non-wealthy I'd sooner live here in Aus.
