Cops arrest woman at town meeting while she has the floor

I don't blame the victims. The police are bad guys here. People have a legitimate fear of what the police can do, so I don't blame them for doing nothing. Even the mayor was ignored by those crooks

there were 50 people in that room and 3 cops. those people could have stopped that unlawful arrest had they wanted to.

Exactly. I'm sure there were people in that room just like we have right here, big talkers about what they will do and what's going to happen and one can bet all they are is mouth. And they'll go home and say "next time we'll do this or that" just like a few wanna-be tough guys here who keep blabbering on about how they will act in certain circumstances. Meanwhile, they cower behind their keyboards praying an Obama supporter won't verbally spank them.

are you kidding?.....who's instructions were the cops following by removing her?......

The mayor was telling them to stop and let her speak. You have it backwards. The cops were following orders from their crooked boss

OK- I was interrupted after the first cop approached he. Then it's their crooked boss who's ass should be reamed out.

I wouldn't have tried to put a group together to stop them. They've got the guns and badges, and the good guys have the camera. Let them "win" now, collect evidence and fuck them up later, in court where it really counts.

I agree. Let them make clear violations so we have reason to remove them. The police are public servants, not the supreme authority.

what a bunch of sheep. do you really think those cops are going to pay ANY price or punishment for what they did? they won't pay a dime. the city will defend any lawsuit, which will cost taxpayer money, or they will try to settle with the arrested person, which any payment will be paid by the cities insurance policy and not the cops themselves. and if by some miracle there is actually a trial and the courts determine that there was a rights violation, the cops will get qualified immunity because they were simply following orders/policies of the city, so the cities insurance company will again pay any fines and damages.

the end all, be all, of things is that this will continue to happen until the police and city officials are made to pay personally. Until then, you'll continue to see more of this unless we actually do something.

have fun being subjects of the state.

We're having plenty of fun reading your whines about cops that you're not man enough to mouth in real life.

I don't think so. I think shit's gonna hit the fan now.

Maybe, maybe not.

But from my short experience as a public employee, every mistake goes in a file and gets brought up during your periodic evaluation. Little ones are a pain in the ass and the bigger ones are career breakers. Usually the chief of police serves under and reports directly to the mayor.

Quartzsite Police Chief Jeff Gilbert has asked the town council to declare a “state of emergency” due to all of the publicity the town has received over the arrest of a reporter at an open meeting in June.
The town council voted 5-0 in favor of the action; Mayor Ed Foster did not attend the emergency meeting Sunday afternoon. Gilbert reportedly said the action was needed because Jennifer Jones was “inciting riots” after videos of her arrest at the meeting sprung up across the Internet.
It was not immediately clear what outside assistance, if any, Gilbert seeks to enforce the state of emergency.

Sounds like someone is paranoid. The state of emergency will let the police deal with any protests swiftly and violently.

this will most likely allow this 'chief' to hire more officers on an emergency basis. I think he knows that the next time the public meeting is held, any orders to arrest another on the floor will be met by more than just loud voices and it's likely he wants the show of force to subjugate and subdue the commoners.
