During the recent CPAC pep rallies in Orlando, one of the CPACers claimed that “Dr. Fauci is wrong a lot”. In reaction to that claim, a bunch of other CPACers applauded.
Apparently, the CPACers forgot that “Trump was wrong a lot”. For example:
- He said that news reports about Covid were “fake news”. (He was wrong. They were not “fake news”. Instead, they were based on reality, as opposed to Trump’s alternative reality.)
- He said that Democrats’ concerns about Covid were a “Democrat hoax”. (He was wrong. They were not a “Democrat hoax”. Instead, they were valid concerns.)
- He said that hydroxychloroquine is a cure for Covid. (He was wrong. It’s not a cure.)
- He thought that bleach could be a cure for Covid. (He was wrong. It’s not a cure.)
- He said that we had Covid totally under control. (He was wrong. It was not under control. And it got totally out of control, because he grossly mismanaged our Covid response.)
- He said that Covid would magically disappear. (He was wrong. It hasn’t magically disappeared, and it won’t. In reality, it will take science and responsible behavior to make it disappear ... not magic.)
- Last year, he said that Covid would be over by Easter. (He was wrong. It wasn’t over by Easter last year, and it won’t be over by Easter this year.)
- During the 2020 presidential campaign, he said that all that we hear about is “Covid, Covid, Covid”. And then he predicted that after the election, we would not hear about it anymore. (He was wrong. It’s way past Election Day, and we still hear about “Covid, Covid, Covid”. And we’ll hear about it for a while longer.)
- When we only had a few Covid cases, he said that those cases would soon be down to zero. (He was wrong. There were nearly 24 million cases when he left office.)
- He said that for the vast majority of Americans, the Covid risk is very, very low. (He was wrong. There are now around 30 million cases and growing.)
- This list of examples where “Trump was wrong a lot” could be MUCH longer, but I’m going to stop now.
Apparently, CPACers live in Trump’s alternative reality (aka, Trump’s TV reality):
- Maybe CPACers think that if we would have put ourselves on a strict bleach regimen, Covid would now be history and we would all be fine.
- Maybe CPACers think that if Trump would’ve implemented the Defense Production Act to produce massive amounts of pixie dust, Covid would have magically disappeared.
- We all know that Trump claims to be the “world’s greatest negotiator and deal maker”. Maybe CPACers think that he could’ve negotiated a deal with the Easter Bunny, and that Covid would have been over by last Easter.
- CPACers see Trump as a god. Maybe they think that he could’ve negotiated with the viruses directly, and made a deal with them to cease and desist.
- Maybe CPACers think that the viruses’ little tiny brains would have been no match for Trump’s “very large brain”.
Here’s reality: If Trump would have listened to Fauci and to others like him, instead of listening to his “good brain” and his gut, FAR fewer livelihoods, and FAR fewer lives, would have been lost to Covid.
In the war against Covid, Fauci is a “General Eisenhower”, and Trump is a deserter. But yet, CPACers demean Fauci, and they praise Trump. They trash a man of science and facts, and they worship a reputed con artist and grifter. They trash a man who is serving them, and they worship a man who is using them. And they trash a man who is trying to save their lives, and they worship a man who doesn’t care if they live or die.
Apparently, “CPAC” stands for the “Clowns’ PAC”, or the “Chumps’ PAC”. Maybe they should call themselves “TCPAC” for the “Trump’s Chumps’ PAC”.
