Bush Judge Appointee Resigns After DUI Arrest While Cross Dressing

A 63-year-old Massachusetts federal bankruptcy judge has resigned a week after he was arrested for driving under the influence in New Hampshire while reportedly wearing a woman’s dress, heels and stockings, and carrying a purse.

Federal Judge Robert Somma worked in private practice for years in Boston before he was appointed to the bench by President Bush in December 2004.

Robert Somma, 63, was arrested on Feb. 6 after his Mercedes-Benz hit a pickup truck on a Massachusetts road. When authorities removed him from the vehicle, they said he wore a black women's cocktail dress, fishnet stockings and high heels.

Somma, who lives in Newbury, Mass., fumbled in his purse for his driver’s license before handing it to the officer who later arrested him, the police report shows.

“He had a difficult time locating his license in his purse. He passed over it multiple times before removing it,” officer Paul J. Thompson wrote in his report.

“I suspect that he will not be interested in talking to anyone from the newspaper, and I’m his wife,” said a woman who answered the telephone at the judge’s home yesterday. She referred media calls to Gary H. Wente, chief administrative officer for the First Circuit Courts.

Not like there's anything wrong with being a crossdresser. This judge shouldn't have to resign just for excersising his constitutional right to dress like a woman. The DUI is something else, but it's just one, and our Mr Bush, well, he knows all about those little mistakes.

Interesting how Transvestitism should disqualify a Judge if Bush appoints them... yet there's these laws that say you can't use that against them...

Then why all the talk of Republicans being conservative old boring white men? Republicans like to party, dress however they want and get their sex on in public. It seems to me the Democrats need to losen up and have a little bit of fun.
 
It seems the Republicans need to stop preaching about family values and degrading everyone else's lifestyle choices.

It doesn't seem like this judge was pretending anything. He was out in public with 60 year old man thighs in fishnet stockings.
 
It seems that the left are assuming that because Bush appointed him this guy is a Republican too. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

Actually I said, "Bush appointee or Republican official". Considering they have male escorts hanging around the press room for no apparent work related reason, this fits well into his circle's MO.
