DACA and the federal shutdown

DACA and the federal shutdown:

Regardless of Democrat's motives for paying the ransom, they couldn't ignore Republicans' real threat to Children’s Health Insurance programs (CHIPs).

Powerful segments within the Republican Party would choose to undermine or eliminate ANY federal social programs without regard for human consequences. Six years of more substantial shielding for CHIPs in exchange for three weeks extension of federal budget funding was certainly a humane and a politically preferable decision. Republicans selected an excellent hostage.

President Trump (unjustifiably) boasts of being an able negotiator, but he has again demonstrated that his promises are worthless unless additionally co-signed by other responsible parties. Democrats correctly withdrew their offer not to oppose the funding of Trump's Mexican wall.

I had hoped the Democrats would stand firm at least upon DACA issue. Until DACA's resolved, let Republicans unilaterally re-open the federal government. If DACA is not satisfactorily resolved, Democrats should continue holding out for a substantially increased minimum wage rate pegged to the urban consumer price index. But that doesn't seem to be happening.

Democrats enabling Republicans without immediate resolution for families affected by the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (i.e. DACA) program will be acting inhumanely and to their party's net disadvantage in 2018 and increasingly more so in 2020 and 2024 elections.

When I completed my 4 year military hitch (in 1959), I registered as a Democratic voter. Since then I voted in all general and most primary elections. In 2010, due to Obama's continuing attempts to placate Republicans, I transferred to a 3d party. I refrain from moving a Democratic election lever. I'm a proponent of the FDR and Truman's populist concepts.

How can there be any human consequences if social welfare programs are eliminated?

How is not rewarding illegals with DACA inhumane?

Sending people back, to a country they have never lived in as a child or adult, is inhumane. Many do not speak the language. It is separating families. It is taking breadwinners away from American families. Yeah, it is horrible. They sent a Michigan man back last week. he has been here over 30 years and has a family. He had a job ,worked and paid taxes. Now his family is without the father. Easy to understand the lack of humanity. http://www.wilx.com/content/news/Michigan-Man-Deported-back-to-Mexico-469531973.html

If they were brought over illegally as children, they actually have lived in that other country. We aren't talking about children born here because a parent came across the border illegally and doffed them off. The DACA illegals were brought illegally.

Refusing to enforce immigration law is inhumane.

That I support enforcing immigration law and you want to reward those illegally here, and you have no argument that can refute that they are illegally here, makes you as bad as they are for committing the illegal act they commit. If someone has been here illegally for 30 years, it's past time that person is gone and NOTHING they've done excuses that. What you're saying is the same thing as not punishing a murderer if they haven't committed a murder for 30 years.
