New York Post reveals Dan Marino fathered a child out of wedlock in 2005
The New York Post has revealed that Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino fathered a child in 2005 with a then-production assistant at CBS. The Post identified the child's mother as Donna Savattere, then 35 years old. Their daughter, Chloe, is now seven years old.
Marino acknowledged responsibility in a statement to the Post: “This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”
Marino further noted that he remains married, as he did through the affair with Savattere. “My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together,” he told the Post on Wednesday, which according to the Post is Marino's 28th wedding anniversary. “And we continue to be a strong and loving family.”
The Post reports that Marino paid Savattere "millions" as part of the arrangement, and remains in contact with her and their daughter. Savattere has since remarried.
Marino, still a commentator at CBS, will be a part of CBS's daylong Super Bowl coverage this weekend.
