Looks like the Republicans caved on the debt ceiling.

Does Trump really have any influence?

Always count on the House of Representatives doing what’s in their best interests.
They helped themselves get re-elected and they helped the president in his reelection effort.

Slow Joe caved...he did not want to be the first president to have a default on his watch.

Trump, Trump, Trump!

Trump.

Trump, Trump, Trump!

Trump.

Incorrect. Mccarthy caved. Biden went right down the middle. The Reds had to consider the impact the debt ceiling ignorance would have on the elections and the party itself. Jail Trump, Jail Trump, Jail Trump

The Trumpers in Congress will probably delay it into default.

I suspect the chamber of commerce, corporate lobbyists, Wall Street bankers gave the Republican caucus an earful behind closed doors that the GOP would pay a price for engineering a crash of the economy

No, Nordy.

Slow Joe said he would not negotiate…he did.

Slow Joe cave and Republicans won.

Now do your melon-pickin' victory dance, ExLax.

The White House negotiated when they adamantly said they would not negotiate. The White House knew they would be blamed for a default if one occurred.

I don’t think they can. It will win any floor vote. McCarthy can’t renege on this deal now. So if the votes are theee, and I assume both sides have whipped, then it passes. The real question is how McCarthy survives this. I don’t see how he can.

I don't know, but I do know the Party of Trump will do what Trump wants and Trump wants a default.

Any Senator can hold this up for a week but I don’t think any of them are dumb enough. Maybe Tuberville he a fucking moron.

All it takes is one Trumper to follow Trump's orders.

Why Donald Trump Is Pushing For a U.S. Debt Default
Trump is advocating for default amid debt ceiling negotiations

Why is Trump pushing for a default?

Well, the former President is seemingly attempting to high-jack debt ceiling negotiations as a means to put himself back in the limelight ahead of the 2024 election. Indeed, Trump has appeared on a number of news programs recently to share his thoughts. Trump’s position is that Republicans should stick to their guns until or unless President Joe Biden concedes on sweeping spending cuts, which would be a major blow to Biden’s agenda.

“I say to the Republicans out there — congressmen, senators — if they don’t give you massive cuts, you’re gonna have to do a default,” Trump said earlier this week.

The good news is that this will blow up in his face if it happens.

The bad news is the negative effect it has on the US economy and jobs. It could easily push the US into a recession by next year.
