Debating the war

IHateGovernment

Is this your homework?
There is a good rule of thumb in debating the merits of continueing the course our country is on in Iraq. If the person who supports the continuation of the war still sees the Vietnam war as a necessary and just war then quit right then. You aren't going to go anywhere.

Do not waste your time. If all the information that has come out over the past 30 years won't convince them nothing will.

Yep, even bush visiting Vietnam in his jammies and promoting trade with Vietnam does not change their narrow little minds. and they call libs pinheads :D

Barack Obama has some interesting observations about these intractable, immovable issues. He asserts, with regret and reservations, that there are a handful of issues on which meaningful dialogue has become effectively impossible. When that happens, all one can do is to stake out a position and hold to it with as little hypocrisy as possible. It then becomes a game of who can get the most votes -- purely political maneuvering, in other words.

I find that, while I disagree with him on some important issues, I like the way the man thinks. You might too, IH8. :)

I do Ornot. Obama's honesty and understanding of his adversaries views is refreshing to me and at the risk of sounding vain reminds me of my approach to politics.
