Democrats Afraid Of Blacks?? Who Knew

If this is true why is it that black people stand for this?

It isn't remotely true, but it's the same tired and worn-out ramblings of republicans who denigrate African-Americans with one side of their mouth while with the other side of their mouths suggesting the only reason most of us are democrats is bevause democrats give us stuff.

It's a silly premise .. every bit as silly as this thread.

I think we all underestimate what it does to a people to be forbidden to read or move about freely for a few hundered years.

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps could probably sound like something white people would say. "But what about George Washington Carver, couldn't you all just be George Washington Carver?".

Handouts would look good, and that CAN be another problem. It;s a fine line I spose.

:)

I appreciate the civility in which you've approached this subject, but what you just said is mindlessly silly.

First, I didn't leave out anything and said that African-Americans were once nearly all republican .. but that was when the Republican Party, which began as an anti-slavery party, did not stand against the interests of African-Americans. To suggest that blacks should have remained republicans when Nixon embarked on his southern strategy that openly courted southern racists would be mindlessly ignorant, do you not agree?

Additionally, those "special rights" you're talking about are relative civil and human rights .. an agenda taken upon by the Democratic Party, not the Republican Party, do you agree?

Even with affirmative action, which benefits white women more than anyother demographic, African-Americans are still only relatively free in a country we've been in for 400 years.

What program instituted by democrats "takes care of blacks cradle to grave" that does not benefit white people? Surely you're not stupid enough to suggest welfare.

What ensures black votes for the Democratic Party is people just like you.

Why would I or anyother black person want to align themselves politically with someone like you? That makes no sense.

I have an entirely different perspective of history, culture, and society than you do, and you come with a warped an delusional perspective of my people.

Why would I get in bed politically with such a thing?

I appreciate your acknowledgement of my civility. It is the first time that a poster here done so, yet it has been my stated goal from the outset to engage in civil discussions of politics.

You seem to look at the two major parties through a clouded lens of race. The Founders acknowledge firstly that all men were born equal, then went on to state a goal of life and liberty. Therefore the government’s role is not to establish equality between the races, but to create an environment where individuals can pursue their goals as unrestricted as possible. The free market system therefore became the economic system of the United States.

According to Gore Vidal, not exactly a fan of the GOP, the Republican Party started with Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson was a supporter of free markets unfettered by ethnic or political ties: “Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto.” Most historians acknowledge that the GOP’s current brand began with Lincoln, who’s goal was expanding the benefits of free market economics. Abolishing slavery was a messy, though necessary step towards that goal. The Democrat Party during this period had an opposite view of economics based on the feudal system of Europe: in order to be rich, some men must be poor. The poor in this instance were the African slaves.

I therefore invite you to look at the two parties from the perspective of competing economic theories. Both Parties have been remarkably consistent in their economic views throughout American history. Democrats today champion redistribution of wealth and collective responsibility as a way to correct the “injustice” of the free market, while Republicans, as voiced by their Conservative base, advocate a level playing field and personal responsibility as a way of unleashing the free market.

In other words, Democrats desire freedom from personal responsibility, and Republicans acknowledge that true freedom requires personal responsibility.

The primary goal of any politician is to obtain and hold power. The Democrat Party has found that populism, establishing special privileges, entitlements and cash handouts (euphemistically called “tax rebates”), meets this and their economic goal. African Americans, due to their lower economic status prior to enforced civil rights policies, have been recipients of this largess and thus are naturally beholden to its providers. The system however, creates a drag on the overall economy, therefore reduces overall wealth, and creates “a steeper ladder” for more Americans to achieve the Founders goal. Black Americans will therefore find it more difficult to achieve economic parity with those who had a head start, and when they finally do, will find that the liberty promised can never be fully achieved.

Ethnic minorities have always been taught that capitalism is bad for them and that they should vote Democrat because of its support for socialist ideals. This was true of the Irish, Italians, Slavs, etc. and is true of blacks today. Its the same class warfare that the Dems waged during its founding era...

Also equally true.

One the one hand you have an unintelligent and hate-filled Republican Party and on the other you have a cowardly Democratic Party.

At least the democrats aren't full of hate.

cite with evidence where the republican party, or high profile republicans in general, have slandered black people with supposed hatred. Otherwise, all you're really doing is expressing a generalized emotional opinion.
