Democrats Have the Upper Hand in Budget Impass

The latest poll numbers have the Democrats kicking some Republican butt. I guess this is the reason big bowel movement (hat tip to The Dude) is stuck posting stories about golf courses; the real news is just too hard to take. The Democrats are winning the war for the hearts and minds (votes) of the America people and the Republicans are going down on the backs of the Teapartiers in the House and the Senate. House Republicans are spinning as their numbers sag. The Money Power behind the Teaparty is reconsidering and the Republicans are staggering. These numbers compiled by John Nichols, at The Nation tell the tale. Nichols, an actual socialist, wrote The “S” Word: A Short History of an America Tradition…Socialism (2011), and co-authored Dollarocracy: How the Money-and-Media Election Complex Is Destroying America (2013), shows that the Republicans are going to need some serious repair if they expect to retain the House in 2014. The American people are tiring of the drama and except for more intransigence House Republicans have no answers. Some are even suggesting a solution if it comes at all will have to come, as it did last time, from the Senate. To this end Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell met today for the first time in months. Reid acknowledged a deal is far off. But the House Republicans are flummoxed by their own caucus which can do nothing but blame the President. And that isn’t going well.

Shutdown Politics: Support for Democratic Takeover of House Spikes
John Nichols on October 11, 2013 - 8:49 AM ET

The numbers that matter in Washington are not the ones tossed around in discussions of debt ceilings or continuing resolutions.

The numbers that matter are found in the polls of public reaction to the ongoing government shutdown, and to the prospect that a bad circumstance could grow dramatically worse with the undermining of the “full faith and credit” of the federal government.

Those poll numbers explain why there has been at least some movement on the part of House Republicans—who engineered the shutdown as part of a scheme to derail implementation of the Affordable Care Act—to back down from their most hardline positions.

The latest data from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal is devastating for the GOP.

Fifty-three percent of Americans surveyed blame the GOP for the shutdown, while just 31 percent blame President Obama….

During the shutdown of the mid-1990s, only 44 percent of Americans blamed the Gingrich-led Republicans, while 33 percent blamed then-President Bill Clinton.

Forty-seven percent of Americans surveyed for NBC now say they would like to see Democrats take charge of the US House of Representatives.

A mere 39 percent want the Republicans to retain control. Other recent surveys put Democrats up nine points.

I have to disagree with the wordage of your post, its not the democrats kicking the republicans ass its the American People and that includes moderate GOP and lots of independents.
The teaparty far right was destined to lose from the start, it all started on a false pretense and a ruse.
The teaparty gained grass roots support because it initally espoused an agenda to protect medicare and social security from OBAMACARE. Thats how the teaparty sucked in alot of people, now that the shade is off their real for the rich of the rich agenda they are swiftly going down the tube. Thankfully, but they have a shining light they will always have texas :)
