Luckily for him, the assholes who continue to support him will buy into whatever he throws their way.

MY GUESS: The congressional members of his own party...will 'splain to him that ONLY HE CAN CAUSE THE GOVERNMENT TO SHUT DOWN AGAIN.

They are going to fight him on it this time...so he'd better set up a different lie for them to buy.

Is it because they are taking a hit in so much other news they want to change the subject?

No one has suggested a wall from sea to sea, just where appropriate.
