We do not need to cater to the middle. If they are not on board with moving farther left, then leave them behind and let them vote republican. It's probably what they want to do anyway. And to be honest, the dems moving to the left isn't even radical or extreme, it's standing up for equality for all and shifting this country back to the real middle to begin real progress.

Most in the middle are there because they support some of the racist policies from the right. They call themselves "fiscal conservatives" but may have left leaning social issues.. The thing is, you can't have both.

The entire republican agenda, ideology, and policies are based in racism and greed. That goes for all issues from small government to the bathroom bill and everything in between.

The dems cannot compromise with the right.

Dems in the middle want to compromise with the racist right. They compromise on tax cuts, spending, war and especially crime. If they want those things they should vote for the right and let dems govern the way they want.
