Detroit+Democrats In Charge = $7500.00 Median Home Price

if i was Detroit id get into business of assembling wind turbines and solar grids. got the rail in place, got the workforce, got the factories.

That's exactly what is happening. You're right, though, it is sad, terribly sad. The only MLB game I've ever attended in the US was at Tiger Stadium (my Dad was a huge Montreal fan so I saw a few games with him), and despite all these years away, we're still dyed-in-the-wool Redwings fans -- take that, Damo and SF!!! :D And I loved the annual Autorama at Joe Louis Arena.

I'm excited to see Ken Griffey, Jr. back in a Mariners uniform this year. Should be awesome, and a morale booster to Seattleites after last season. The "kid" is home again!!!

I forgot that he'd started out with the Mariners. Hope that this is a better fit for him than the Reds were; that one just never took off. Also, wasn't he injured a lot while in Cinci?

My company advises/represents public pension funds in their purchase of real estate which includes high rise downtown office buildings. I only say this partially tounge in cheek where one might get fired for a bringing a downtown Detroit office building to investment committee to recommend for purchase.

I don't know what the answer is to help turn the city around but from an outsiders perspective everything I read seems to point toward negative growth demographics among the populace, flight of capital and other negative trends.

Being from Ohio part of me sees joy in a city in Michigan in struggle but realistically Detroit was a great American city with a lot of history and its sad to see what's happening to it.

Cawacko I met a guy who has a business I never heard of before, and he seems to be doing really well with it. What he does is, he finds companies who have memberships to golf clubs and he facilitates their renting out of that membership on a day by day basis. So say, Company A has this real expensive membership to a nice golf club, and it's just sitting there. And Company B doesn't want to invest in a membership in this economy, but they want to take a special client or have a special event at a golf club. So they rent the membership from Company A . I thought it was a really interesting idea, and I bet you would be good at that. I know you already have a job, just mentioning the idea.

Actually got laid off last week. That is a real intersting concept and can probably gain a lot of traction in this type of economic environment.

I am so sorry to hear that Cawacko. I hope things rebound for you quickly and that you fall into something that is even better. I know you will eventually, but I hope it happens quick.

It's ok but thank you for the kind thoughts.

I agree that it's an 'interesting concept', practical and cost effective for all. Reminds me of a couple of my late father's friends who have season tickets for Sox, Cubs, Bulls, Bears. They cannot make all those games, they often 'sell them' to friends. Me, well they give them to me! :cof1: I'm much nicer than many of you think.

It's very cool to bring a date and another couple to a game and be able to use 'The Clubhouse' or 'The Bull Pen' lounges adding it to a tab, that goes to my dad's friends. Oh yeah, I send their wives gigantic floral pieces at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Detroit sucks. A lot of ppl I've encountered from Detroit and its suburbs are either miserable and/or racist.
