"Didn't want to answer questions under oath": Trump abruptly drops Cohen lawsuit

Trump has voluntarily dismissed the $500 million federal lawsuit he brought against his former attorney Michael Cohen, according to court records.

The notice, filed Thursday, states that the lawsuit will be thrown out "without prejudice," a distinction that provides Trump the option to refile it later.

Days after his first criminal indictment came down in April, Trump sued Cohen — the key witness in his New York hush-money case and ongoing fraud trial — for a half billion dollars in the Southern District of Florida. He had been scheduled for a deposition by Cohen's lawyer, which he had pushed back twice, on Monday.

The deposition was first scheduled for Sept. 6, but Trump postponed it. After a judge rescheduled it for Oct. 3, Trump pushed back the date again on the grounds that he had to attend court for his civil fraud case in New York.

U.S. District Court Judge Edwin Torres then rescheduled the deposition for a second time for Oct. 9, which is now void.

Cohen should now sue for and get costs for this nuisance suit.

At every stage, despite Trump being the one who filed the suit, he fought any attempts to proceed with it. he has the court to delay it until after the election, and pushed back on every deposition demand with excuses. It is clear Trump just wanted to harass Cohen by having this hang over his head, which impacts your ability to get loans, etc.

If Trump did not want to have this litigated until after the election then you do not file it until after the election.

Cohen needs to counter sue for costs, and then get an order to depose Trump, which is what Trump does not want to have happen. Trump will likely pay him to go away, and if not likely lose in court and be forced to pay, since Trump has already been forced to pay over $1 Million dollars to opposing counsels and defendants, for bringing "frivolous" lawsuits in other cases.

Trump is caging himself in. The guy would have to contradict himself if he had to testify in all the litigation he has going on.
