Disaster

Interesting, don't you agree, to compare the reaction of the Japanese to their multiple disaster, with the New Orleansians (I have no idea what they are called) and their reaction to Katrina.

The Americans whined, bitched and moaned and, from what we saw on TV, could or would do nothing to help themselves.

The Japanese, you know, those little yellow people that you bombed in the war and who are stealing your jobs and who can't speak English, meanwhile, are getting on with the job of boiling water, not letting society crumble, looking after each other.

You'd think, wouldn't you, that with their exposure to the great American way, they would run around like headless chickens blaming anyone and everyone else just as the Americans did.

Methinks the wonderful yanks might learn a thing or two from the little people in the orient.

Katrina reaction was a byproduct of Liberal Politics... plain and simple... You see, President Bush was reeling in the public opinion polls due to the war in Iraq.... blood in the water, so to speak... So when Katrina happened, Liberals exploited the tragedy, created a whole city of "victims" and moaned and whined like the liberals they are, prompting government to spring into action and try to help the "poor victims" ...which they did, and the "victims" took full advantage of the generosity, and whined for more help, because they are LIBERALS!

You are correct... LIBERALS could learn a LOT from the Japanese people... they are not having a pity party, making themselves 'victims' or whining about the situation... they immediately rolled up their sleeves and started cleaning up, assessing the damage, and the rebuilding process.

Who complains about Japanese people taking our jobs? That's the first time I've ever heard of that assertion. 0_o

this is true. liberals completely ignored their own local and state LIBERAL leaders and blamed bush for everything. they exploited people's lives and took advantage of a tragedy to further their political agendas.

Bush appointed himself "decider." He told LA before the hurricane hit that the feds were ready for anything. He was slow to react when the hurricane did hit. And he appointed a crony who was a horse trainer to head up FEMA.

His leadership during Katrina was very correctly questioned & criticized; it's one of his biggest failures.

wow. you need some serious international and world cultural education to keep from sounding like a moron.

not much on constitutional and federal law, is ya?

Bush didn't "appoint himself" anything, moron! His response to Katrina was technically unconstitutional... did you know that? Yes, it's true, the constitutional requirement is for the state to "request" FEMA assistance and to have a national disaster declared by the federal government. The Federal government is not within its constitutional bounds to take any action unless and until the state makes such a request. However, with Katrina, the governor of the state delayed the request, even with the urging of the White House.... so Bush, three days before the hurricane made landfall, set a historical first, by proclaiming Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, a Federal Disaster Area. Never before in the history of our nation, had a president made such a declaration BEFORE the disaster! Now, you can argue that federal response was slow from that point, but federal response is ALWAYS slow, that's why we have state National Guards.

^ right on cue, in comes the board's largest hack to back up just what i said earlier:

LOL...:awesome:

here is the thing, bush did make mistakes regarding katrina, but to listen to dems, it was ONLY bush. if you call them to the floor, they will falsely mutter...yeah, the mayor and governor had some TINY fault, and then immediately launch right back into how bush is the one truly responsible because he is the president.

there were so many mistakes made before federal assistance was asked that compounded everything. the local government and the state completely fucked up, worse than bush, but you won't hear that. its not politically expedient to their liberal agenda.

You can explain this over and over and it just never seems to penetrate the apelike skulls of the pinheads....
Its only because both the Governor and Mayor were Democrats that the blame was shifted to Bush and FEMA....both the Governor and Mayor delayed ordering evacuation and declaring an emergency until the storm was on top of them.....
a little creative rewriting of history and changing events by a few hours or a day was used to create the illusion of the "Its Bush's Fault" theory....a few good lies and a willing media was all that was needed...

It's also not historically accurate. Say "Katrina" for the next 100 years, and who do people think of...Nagin, or Bush?

Too bad for you Bushies....

No one is saying the lies about the event didn't work, ...obviously they did.... we're all aware of that .....but we'll see about the next 100 years.....Bush's legacy will fair batter that Obamas, because the truth has a way of showing its ugly face, sooner or later, to the detriment of the Democrats...thats for damn sure:good4u:

A bit premature on that. If the economy keeps getting better, Obama will get credit, and his Presidency will be judged a success at least on that level.

Not much good happened under Bush. He squandered a budget surplus, exploded our debt, rushed us into an unnecessary war that lasted 7 years, botched catastrophes like Katrina, and in general diminished America's reputation around the world. He was a poor leader, and will likely go down as one of our worst Presidents...

lmao...you don't counter with facts, rather you point out the blatent left wing media propaganda bullshit worked. too bad for you haters that people will learn the truth and you will be a laughing stock and remembered as partisan hacks.

i love how you immediately fell right into line with my comments about liberals regarding katrina...too bad for you libbies that all you have are lies in order to propagate your political agenda....how proud you must be... bring bush down with lies

that some serious hate and really shows how angry and partisan most liberals are.

Your response here shows much more anger & partisanship than anything I've said on this thread. Probably because you're angrier & more partisan.

I've stated the truth; Bush's leadership has been rightly criticized for Katrina. He botched it. I'm definitely curious to see what "truth" you're referring to that people haven't realized by now...

? so pointing out your lies and the liberal lies is exhibiting anger and is partisan ?

LOL. no wonder you don't see your lies, to you, lies are truth as long as it furthers your political goal or your dislike of other posters.

he has not been rightly criticized, he has been unfairly and overly criticized by haters like you. you don't bitch and hold accountable any of the lefties at the local and state level. nope, its all bush, bush, bush, bush. that is the truth. if you weren't so full of bitter partisanship, you wouldn't solely call out bush everytime for katrina, you would be honest and state he played a part, but you would not dishonestly minimize the role the local and state leaders played. but you do so because they were dems.

that is the truth. i know you hate truth though....

Same thing here. This post seems all angry & frantic, like you're desperate.

Maybe it's just me, but I hold Presidents to a much higher standard than Mayors; especially when everyone - including Bush - was saying for years what a great & decisive leader he was.

Do you think Nagin's legacy is glowing? His name will forever be tied to poor response & bad decision-making during that crisis. But people will think of Bush and his incredibly bad leadership much, much more. Because, ya know - he was President, and not a local mayor.....
