So my dishwasher sprung a leak. It had a leak about 5 years ago and the repairman replaced the main assembly for 700 bucks. So this time I decided to fix myself or get a new dishwasher. Turns out dishwashers are pretty easy to fix and parts are pretty cheap. I decided to replace the pump assembly. Which was probably over kill because you can also replace individual parts on the assembly. But I'm not getting younger and neither is the dishwasher so if it goes out in 5-6 years I replace the whole unit. Any way the assembly is about $150 and took about 45 minute to replace and took a Phillips head screwdriver and a pair of pliers. I watched a couple of videos and suddenly I was a pro. I ordered the parts on line and they were at my front door in three days. Almost every part can be removed by hand because most just screw in place by hand.
My recommendations
Watch a couple of good videos
Unplug your dishwasher or flip the breaker
Turn its water off
Take Lots of pictures
Be sure to take 2-3 pictures of every plug
Have three or four towels ready for any water out of the drain lines.
I saved around 700 dollars for 45 minutes of work. Not bad.
