“If you took the $1400000000000 initially spent just to bail out the banks, and you had redistributed that money among all the millions of Americans who were having trouble paying their mortgages and who had just lost their jobs in the year or two, each one would receive a check for $350,000,” according to columnist/cartoonist Ted Rall.

you forget that the banks had/have to pay it back with interest, but still it would be nice

I agree. We should have simply paid off all of the account holders and let the banks fail. It would have been cheaper, and it would have sent a message to the morons.

if the loans had been paid off, the banks would not have failed, but the money would not come back to tax payers equitably

This is the 4,000,000th time that absurdity (or some form of it) has been posted. Do the math.

That would give that money to 4,000,000 people. Those 4mm would certainly be happy, but that would not have helped the economy in the same manner as the bailout.

What should piss people off is the fact that the TARP money that has been repaid.... has disappeared.

Where the hell did it go?

It didn't pay down the debt.

It didn't get used anywhere that I can see.

where the bleeping hell is it?
