There was a study done years ago when Obama was trying to get the ACA instituted. Basically they found that the VAST majority of Americans were in favor of the ACA but ONLY IF THEY WEREN'T TOLD IT WAS OBAMACARE. When the word "obamacare" came up suddenly they didn't like it.
They were keying on the name only. These voters are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Republicans hate the 3.8% tax on net investment income over $200k/year that is part of the ACA. It funds the Medicaid expansion.
They don't care about who has coverage. They care less about those who have no coverage. They just want to be rid of the pesky 3.8%. The first $200k in earnings is taxed at around 20%. Then it's another 3.8% plus another .9% for Medicare.
Hedge fund managers make millions/year in fees that is taxed as cap gains. Not marginal tax rates. Carried interest was trump's last promise in '16. He was going to get rid of it. "My friends are going to be so mad".
Yea. Sure. Those poor bastards have to pay app. 24% on anything over $200k and it's all because of the ACA. Of course they want to kill it.
Sadly, it took a death sentence for McCain do the right thing and save the ACA. Good thing he had a grudge against trump.
