Dog rescue can be so depressing

3 weeks ago we rescued two senior dogs that had spent their entire lives together. They were both 12 years old and belonged to an older man. When his wife died last year, he went downhill fast with depression and his kids decided that he needed full time care, so they decided that he was moving in with one of his kids but the dogs could not go with him. he eventually broke down and realized he would have to surrender them to an animal shelter where they would most likely end up separated. We kept them together with a foster out in the country where they could have alot of room to run around and play together for their remaining years. They died today, both shot to death by the neighbor because they somehow got in to his fenced yard and chased his cat.

Sometimes it's so very hard to keep doing.
 
I empathize with you man. I've always been a dog person. I can't watch Animal Planet when that "Animal Cops" (whatever it's called) show is on. I hate the ASPCA commercials....not to mention the one with the bald, bearded guy with the starving kids...but that's another thread.

Unfortunately, pets are....in the eyes of the law...property. I think they should have a higher distinction than that, although I haven't thought about it enough to say what that distinction should be. Don't take me for a PETA person though, they take things way too far

And yes HowAIDS is an asshole but you wont here any outrage from his liberal throng. If I had said it, Rana and Darla would have tripped over their tampons running here to express outrage
