“Elon Musk, who officially leaves the White House today, claims DOGE saved $175 billion in taxpayer spending. An outside analysis estimates the verified savings are closer to $16 billion. Even those savings are at risk of being washed away by Trump's "One, Big Beautiful Bill."

“The bill, which passed the House last week, is projected to add $3 trillion to $5 trillion to budget deficits over the next 10 years. Even using Musk’s most generous estimate, those DOGE savings would amount to just 6% of the bill's projected increase to the deficit”

Turns out Doge was a bust, and none of this includes the estimated $300 billion that will be lost in revenue due to the draconian cuts in IRS personnel. Keep in mind Trump and Elon promised seven trillion dollars in Doge savings

We do not know if Musk is leaving because he learned a lesson from consumers. He was given great respect for Tesla and his rocketry. He blew it by his cruel treatment of government workers and his clownish behavior. Tesla sales have plummeted. He showed us who he is, and it is ugly.

He is a nerd, and a dorky one a that, brilliant in some areas, and deficient in others, coupled with his narcissism, he was doomed to fail in marketing and self promotion. But he didn’t invest all those millions in Trump because he agreed with Trump’s politics. Musk certainly walked away with something, something huge, contracts and promises, Trump didn’t take him along on his Middle East trip for companionship

Depends on how you look at it. From your worldview where everything is seen through the lens of "Orange Man Bad" you will say that. But, Musk brought to light wasteful spending that most never even fathomed.

Funny that now you call it a bust when just three months ago you were wringing your hands and screeching about how Musk wasn't elected blah blah blah.

Those of us who know, knew that it was always going to be up to Congress to cut spending. They are incapable. That isn't the fault of DOGE

Trump and Elon talked up seven trillion in savings, lot of photo ops, press coverage , and the end came up with a supposed $175 billion of which only $16 billion can be actually documented. When you add in the estimated $300 billion in lost revenue over a ten years due to the 40% in IRS personnel Doge will cost money. And none of that even accounts for the chaos and loss of efficiency because of indiscriminate cuts

I never really had high hopes for DOGE because statutorily they had no teeth and Congress controls the purse strings. Clearly neither side has the stomach for cutting spending.

If they “had no teeth” why did Trump and Elon promise they’d deliver seven trillion in cuts? What was the purpose of the chain saw show?

And of course you are aware, or maybe your not, it doesn’t get much play in the MAGA sphere, but in addition this “big and beautiful bill” is going to add another three trillion, and Trump said his Doge was going to make pay for the debt
