Don't be fooled, nothing Republicans do on Jan. 6 will change the outcome

Exactly. I just sit back and watch the tRumpanzee morons make bigger and bigger fools of themselves with their continued servitude towards tRump.

No matter how much braying in tongues or whackin' their kraken, its over for trump

Donald Trump knows that nothing about the election he lost to Joe Biden will change on Jan. 6, yet he continues to exhort his supporters to come to Washington under the false hope that it will.

True. Those who believe Trump still has a chance are delusional or simply stupid. Remember them just like everyone who should remember who pushed Birtherism.

OTOH, as noted by those-no-longer-here below, most of the Birthers ran after Trump admitted Obama was an American citizen.

I think those "cancel" ppl are ones who asked to have their accounts deleted.

There are 150 repugs who will vote with Trump in the 6th. They are doing that to keep from being primaried for insufficient Trumpiness. Many have told others including Dems, that they know it is a show. There is no way they can win it for Trump. It is just more craziness.
We are at an intellectual and emotional low that is harming America. Repubs cannot do the right thing. They do not have the guts to stand up against Trump.

Pretty accurate portrait of what to expect, weak kneed are still afraid of Trumpamania hurting them in future elections, and one of the reasons Trump himself is determined to make the day his last made for TV circus

Do you expect him to pull some grandstanding stunt on the 20th as well? His last "look at me... LOOK AT MEEEEE!" as the nation -- and the world -- moves on w/o him?

Happy New Year Nordberg,

Awesome post. Totally nailed it. Party loyalty is more important to them than loyalty to the USA. Sad.

That's why he got let off the hook after the impeachment. He should have been found guilty and removed from office.

And how many Americans would have been alive to ring in the new year, if they hadn't betrayed us -- and the nation -- by refusing to abide by their oaths?

I don't think it had anything to do with their oaths. It was just political opinion. Nothing in their oath of office required them to convict Trump (or Clinton or Johnson).

No, but they took an oath to uphold the Constitution. That includes listening to evidence (i.e., holding a trial) of an impeached president. They held no trial, heard no witnesses. They merely voted to acquit... based on their opinions.

They already knew how they would vote. The Constitution does not require the Senate to hear witnesses or evidence as part of their duties to try impeachments. The trial consisted of three days of opening arguments by the prosecution, three days for the defense, and three days of debate, questions, answers.

"the Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments…[but] no person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present"

Their oath does not prevent them from being partisan.

We foolishly relied in their belief in truth, justice and the American way. We also hoped they might honor their oaths of office. Rightys are showing that does not matter to them.

But you knew the Senate would never get a 2/3 vote for conviction.

It was a clear example of party over country.
