I'm not sure how much better of a President DeSantis would be than Trump, given what a craven suck up and right-wing jackass he is, but literally ANYTHING would be better than Trump.

Eugene Debs of the IWW ran for President in 1920 when he was in jail for sedition. (He had spoken against the draft in WW1 - the Supreme Court ruled this was not covered by the First Amendment.)

Sadly, he didn't win.

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt and DeSantis still has access to Twitter and FB and Trump just has Truth Social and his blog…oh, wait, scratch that.

In theory maybe he could, but for all practical purposes, being in a federal prison would make it such an impossible task, it's doubtful he'd even attempt it.

Though, when it comes to Trump, one can never tell.

If his braindead zombie cult remains as loyal to him as they have been, one could imagine him raking in enough donations to mount an ad campaign and rather than holding in person rallies, hold them on Zoom or something similar.

And of course, if his social media accounts are restored, he'd have that avenue.

But I think being behind bars would effectively end his chances.

Especially if the SDNY prosecutors gained an indictment and decided to hit him with state charges just as he was beginning his efforts, it's hard to see how he could devote the time and energy necessary to deal with both simultaneously.

Truth social media is up and running. I haven't seen any performance states. Oddly, as soon as I signed up there were quickly six followers who I suspect are bots:

I'm not a social media fan re Twitter/FB/etc. even though, like this, I have an account. I'm monitor is a reference source but don't plan on much participation.
