Trumpers will raise the debt limit when it serves THEIR needs, but will allow the entire government be shut down if it is not in their DIRECT personal interest.

It's how they operate.

We should get rid of this stupid, stupid, stupid concept. Imagine if you held a vote every month whether you would or would not pay the debts you incurred from the previous month! LOL. People would call you demented.

Reagan ended the Cold War with the collapse of the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact. He did that by spending massively on defense, something the creaking economy of the Soviet Union couldn't match. What followed was a massive decrease in defense spending that benefited Bush I and then Clinton even more.

Bush II had to increase defense spending again after 9/11, brought on in good part by incompetent moves and changes in domestic policy by Clinton. Obama wound that down some but offset it by increased social-welfare spending.

Biden made a hard Left turn politically--well his inner circle did--and it slammed the nation pretty damn hard. We'll see how Trump does in his second term.

So? Congress has already REPEATEDLY shown that Trump runs the GOP. EVEN BEFORE HE WON THE ELECTION he successfully decimated the bipartisan border bill. BIPARTISAN border bill.

Now he and President Musk are busy working to get the government shut down fucking over countless thousands of people during the FUCKING HOLIDAYS.
