Elon Musk's xAI is purchasing an overseas power plant to power its new U.S. data center, which will house 1 million AI GPUs and require up to 2 Gigawatts of power. This equates to roughly the energy consumption of 1.9 million homes. The move comes as xAI's current AI supercomputer, Colossus, already requires 300 MW of power for its 200,000 GPUs, and the new data center will significantly increase this demand.
