NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- A Southern Baptist leader said Tuesday that evangelical voters might tolerate a divorced presidential candidate, but they have deep doubts about GOP hopeful Rudy Giuliani, who has been married three times.

Richard Land, head of public policy for the Southern Baptist Convention, told The Associated Press that evangelicals believe the former New York City mayor showed a lack of character during his divorce from his second wife, television personality Donna Hanover.

"I mean, this is divorce on steroids," Land said. "To publicly humiliate your wife in that way, and your children. That's rough. I think that's going to be an awfully hard sell, even if he weren't pro-choice and pro-gun control."

I don’t think it affects Newt’s chances with them usc.

I don’t for one microsecond believe that these guys give one rat’s ass how Guiliani or Newt treated their wives, or any woman. It’s his social policies. And Newt is where they want him to be on those. In other words, Newt Gingrich is certainly a big enough hypocrite to enjoy the support of the religious right. There’s nothing they like better than a preacher giving a sermon bout the sins of fornication, and then heading off to screw the farmer’s daughter in the barn.

Shocking or not, it won’t be until the righties start crying foul that the details of said divorce will get air-play.

There exists a tape of Rudy’s then wife, on the steps of city hall, crying, as she reveals that she only found out her husband was divorcing her the day before, when he held a news conference stating so. He had not informed her first. I know it exists because it was all over the local news back then.

Have you seen it? Why not?

When do you think you will see it? Do you believe if there was a tape like that starring an ex-wife of Obama’s, that you wouldn’t have seen it? Someone within the Republican party is going to take Rudy down, and it’s going to look like it came from the outside. This is probably the start of it. Before this fall, you’ll have seen that tape. A lot.
 
I figure Newt is shooting for a VP slot anyway. Shooter has shown that is where the power lies in the Republican administrations. Cheny was just following in Bush I's footsteps.

It’s not that we think it’s “ok” Jared, and what the fuck kind of name is that ? Sounds like some kind of metro-sexual name. I guess you know all about them, but when I first heard the name, I had to ask my cousin, Minkis Mink, “minkis, what the fuck is a metrosexual?” Minkis is the wordly one in the family, on account of, he is the first professional in the Mink family, having become a train conductor. So Minkis told me right off, a metrosexual is one of them girlie ny men who wear nail polish and drink something called “lattes” which is coffee they pay five bucks for. And I says, minkis, is you shitting me, these metrosexuals pay five bucks for coffee?” And he says, Billy Bob I ain’t shitting you, I done see it with my own eyes when I was in NY. Which, being a train conducter, Minkis gets to a lot of far-flung places.

Anyhoo, I digest, the point being, it’s not that it’s “ok” with us, it’s that having had some experience with women, we figure there is more than one side to this story. Like, my cousin Ricky Lee whose wife is divorcing him, claiming he is a useless piece of dogshit. But Ricky Lee says, guess what, but she ain’t no Angelina Jolie to live with neither, and she near kilt him a couple months ago, on account of the visa bill. It seems Ricky lee opens his visa bill, and sees a huge charge from Wal-mart, the charge being 41.50. So he goes running into the living room, and he says “Peggy Sue, what the fuck you spend 41.50 at Wal-mart on”? And so she says, well Ricky, for your information, Wal-mart has got some upper class merchandise these days, and I bought myself some New York style Fashion Boots. And then she proceeds to go get the boots, shows them to him, and says “see, like it says on the tag, new for the fall”. So Ricky says, I hardly make 41.50 in one weeks work, and you spend all of that on a boot? And so then Peggy, she says “No Dumbass, I got two boots for that price”.

So I figure, who the hell knows what kind of boots Rudy’s wife was buying right there in the heart of sin city, you see?

Some News Agencies have a difficult time understanding that most people don't care about New York City... Many of the people come from that area, then move to a place like this and think we care as much as they do about what happens there.

I guess they think they are "educatin' the flyover trash".

He's a deeply flawed candidate. Not only is his personal baggage really, really ugly, a lot of his so-called accomplishments don't stand up to scrutiny either.

He will not become the Republican nominee: the primaries will roast him. I've said that from the beginning and still believe it now.
 
ruy the red nosed guiliani will be out early in th primaries if he makes it that far. hitlary ramrod cowntoon ran him right out of the ny senate race as soon as she announced her candidacy. thsoe two have something going on....whether they are in cahoots or she just has something good on him, i don't know....
 
i think his accompishments stand up well, especially next to hitlary and osama, who have virtually none between them.

hi personal life is defininately going to be the key to whterh he makes it or not, and i think it's gonna kill his chances.

the best hing i like abut him is that he about the only one who would ever have the nutz to tell a suadi prince to shove $10m where the sun don't shine!...maybe that attitude is why his personal life is such a disaster!
 
I, a RR nut (going by rob's definition), will not vote for Rudy Guliani. I do not like his policies in certain areas of importance and yes, his foul ups in his personal life tell me something about his character, or lack thereof, I think.
