oddly enough, yes.
a famous/wealthy gentleman in Richmond who left his country home as a public park kept peacocks on the property and they have kept them around now that its a park in addition to a number of other interesting critters. The peacocks are free range so you see them wandering about and occasionally flying around.

I know a guy that owns a plastics manufacturing company here in Phoenix. His neighbor was the drummer for the band Kansas. That dude kept peacocks in his yard. Those are some asshole birds if you ask me. Dude--the guy I know--whacked more than a few of them with a .222 Remington because he couldn't put up with their screaming...
