It seems inappropriate to focus on financial hardships of federal employees who have been effected by the shutdown without also discussing the disproportionately higher number of financial hardships endured by those who have been victims of factories and businesses closing down or moving to other countries.
Damn you are crazy. What happens during a business cycle is not in the hands of one person who caused it. Trump is responsible for this. It did not have to happen, It is not just federal employees you jerk. It is contractors, many thousands of them who are not Feds. It is also suppliers who sell goods and services to those who are out of work.

Usually, 800,000 getting laid off at one time draws attention, especially if that entity has the capability to pay those individuals but doesn't because of one person's inability to recognize a political blunder

I used to try and educate them on another forum, but grew tired of banging my head off of the wall and gave up.
I have worked for two different employers in my time who have closed up. I lost two weeks of pay from one of them, and my vacation time balance from the other. Nobody gave a shit about how it effected my life, and nobody gave a shit about all the other vacant business buildings that I saw all over town. I found new work and did what I needed to to survive, but I have to say I am absolutely disgusted to see how all of the sudden it's some kind of big deal that some federal employees and contractors are going through what I went through. I have no doubt that all this concern about the disproportionately smaller number of people who are effected by the shutdown is nothing but politics. Lefties do not really give a shit about these folks.
Democrats could give them back their paychecks by funding the wall. Why aren't you mad at them?

Nothing is relevant to Trump getting his way except Pelosi getting her way. A stand-off is a situation in which neither of two opposing groups or forces will make a move until the other one does something, so nothing can happen until one of them gives way. Trump and Pelosi are in a standoff.

When a Lefties says he is willing to compromise, that means he wants the Republican to give something up. Trump is the first Republican to call them out on it.
He doesn’t have to “give in”. Funding the government for everyday operations and funding a wall are two separate issues. Put people back to work first. Haggle about your wall separately.
America is not stupid enough to believe that any progress would be made toward the wall if government funding was restored first. Give lefties an inch, they will take a mile.
