Floods mix sewerage with dead bodies (human and animal) and create biologically toxic water. It is dangerous to smell the stuff, much less drink it. Brita does not get rid of bacteria, viruses, or funguses... It does nothing about the problem. It does remove some minerals, not the problem, but will not make your water drinkable.
This is why we allow the real professionals handle health issues, not the high school dropouts.

It's you that's retarded. There are lots of portable water filtration systems that remove essentially everything from water they process. I used Brita as just an example, not necessarily the unit to use in this situation. My point stands. Sending in filtration systems to make potable water is a million times better than shipping in heavy, one use, bottled water.Are you trying to murder flood victims? You completely missed the point I was making by nitpicking the argument rather than looking at it broadly. The US military has trailer mounted filtration systems and trailer and truck mounted water tanks. Same thing on a bigger scale. Bottled water is STUPID! It puts a Band-Aid on an amputation.
Most filtration works on basically clean water. It cannot work on sewerage.
FEMA is great at getting filtration systems into disaster areas, but many times there is not clean enough water to use it. They need to use bottled water as a stop gap measure while they attempt to get water clean enough to be filtered.
I know Gardner thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else, but he really is not.

You are retarded. "Clean water?" A filtration system works on water. An RO system for example pretty much removes everything. Sewage is simply organic contaminants in the water really no different from algae or dirt. Urea is simply a molecule of a certain size--larger than a water molecule--that can be removed by a filter that doesn't allow passage of that size of molecule.
Even a good pool filter will remove virtually all "sewage" from water.
FEMA isn't "great" at anything. They're generally average to mediocre at what they do.
